Samsung's first Galaxy S7 ads are out, and we think they're pretty fun!

While we enjoy both Apple and Samsung products, we have to say that lately Samsung seems to have the edge in innovation. Not to mention the fact that Android allows you to do so many fun and useful things that just aren't possible on an iPhone. We use both ecosystems extensively for our development work, so we're always excited when a fancy new model comes out.

The Galaxy S7 is looking to be a cool addition to the S series, with a new dual pixel fast auto-focus camera bringing the promise of excellent low light capabilities, at the expense of less resolution.

An f/1.7 lens is amazing for a phone camera, allowing the aperture to open up nice and wide for great bokeh and low light sensitivity. It also has a fancy new water cooling system to keep its Snapdragon 820 processor (the fastest chip on the market at the moment) and Adreno 530 GPU from overheating.

In addition, the S7 has resurrected the IP68 water resistance and expandable micro-SD card storage that sadly went missing for the S6 and Note 5. Unfortunately, the battery remains sealed, so you still can't switch out your battery. The battery itself is larger though, with 3600 mAh of power for the s7 edge version and 3000 mAh for the standard S7.

While all this looks great, we don't think its a huge leap forward over the S6, so unless you particularly need the water resistance or low light camera, you could probably hang in there till the S8 or Note 6 comes out. And that's generally true of most of the latest phones from any manufacturer. We've reached the point where most consecutive generations are similar enough to not warrant spending money on upgrades.

Anyway, back to the ads! We like these ads and think they do a good job of subtly showing off the features we've talked about pretty well. But the final ad is the most entertaining, featuring Wesley Snipes, Lil Wayne, James Harden, Doc Rivers and the ever glumly entertaining William H. Macy.
